Experience
Prior to founding the Law Office of James F. Lindsay, Mr. Lindsay gained extensive civil litigation experience at the firms of Gilbert, Kelly Crowley & Jennet and Hornberger and Brewer. He has taken and attended hundreds of depositions, arbitrated numerous cases, and tried both civil and criminal cases.
For the last 15 years, Mr. Lindsay has worked on a wide variety of complex litigation cases. He has represented general contractors and residential real estate developers in construction defect cases; he has represented the writer, director, and producers of a motion picture in an entertainment law case; and he has represented other attorneys in malicious prosecution cases.
As an extension of his civil litigation practice, Mr. Lindsay has represented petitioners, appellants, and respondents in numerous civil cases on appeal, and thereby acquired significant experience in the appellate courts. A number of his appellate cases have resulted in published opinions. Mr. Lindsay has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Ninth Circuit, and the California Courts of Appeal.
At Southwestern University School of Law, Mr. Lindsay was the recipient of the George A. Yanase Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Lindsay also holds a journalism certificate from Pasadena City College and has been published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the San Gabriel Valley edition of the Los Angeles Times.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Lindsay worked as a welder, service technician, and manufacturer's representative in the electrical power plant construction industry. He is a former executive affiliate member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer to Brazil from 1971 to 1973.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Lindsay has completed two marathons, and has a certification from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors in deep technical scuba diving. He dives regularly around the Channel Islands and around the world.
